12 Mar 2007 - Grasshoppers Girls demolish Treforrest

Your not right in thinking that the youngsters of ENTO Aberdare Grasshoppers went on the rampage in Trefforest, what actually happened was the first ever all girls 11 a side football match in the under 11 category....here's the match report.

Treforest U11 - 2    Ento Aberdare Grasshoppers U11 - 9

Goal scorers -  CARLEIGH FORSYTH - 4

               SIAN JONES - 5

Venue - Treforest FC

Player of the match - GEORGIA FELTON

Treforest took possession in the first 5 minutes of the game and had a
couple of good chances.  Only to be held back by Ento Aberdare Grasshopper's
own Jade Lloyd with some outstanding saves.

Once the girls got used to the size of the pitch there was no stopping the
fierce 11.  They worked as a team and engaged some fantastic football.

Georgia Felton found her position in mid field and was reading every pass.
Treforest did not stand a chance with passing from Jenna Davies, Suzy Payne
and Georgia Felton using every inch of the pitch.  Sian Jones, Carleigh
Forsythe and Georgia Felton were on fire today, their passing was spot on,
as were their shots at goal.  Carleigh placed an impressive 4 goals past the
Treforest keeper and Sian managed to get 5 home making final score Treforest
FC - 2 Ento Aberdare Grasshoppers - 9. Jenna, Georgia and Suzy paving the
way and setting the girls up every time.  Outstanding performance's by them
all.

The other team members Sophie Thorne, Angharad, Shannon Leetham, Shannon
Dunn & Shannon Forsythe.  Were quite comfortable fighting off the Treforest
strikers and midfielders each had something to contribute to the game today.

Lorraine Olson manager said "The girls were fantastic today having never
played on a full size pitch before.

Also they played for 30 minutes each way which was very tiring we wasn't
sure if they would cope but they did with unbelievable football.

They held their own throughout the whole match and  Worked together as a
team.  Stayed focused and had a brilliant game of fair play football today.

We would like to thank Treforest management and staff for an unforgettable
afternoon and thank-you for the Sausage and chips dinner afterwards.  We
hope to return the challenge soon in Aberdare.  Thank-you also to our loyal
supporters for coming along and cheering for the girls.  Well done again to
all of you we are so proud".

Finally Good luck to Jade Lloyd, Carleigh Forsythe, Sian Jones, Georgia
Felton, Jonadette Carpio and Loran Ridgeway on the 18th March for your South
Wales Trails we know you will do us all proud and show South Wales what
Aberdare is made of.
