Junior team out in force to thank sponsor

Local junior football team the ENTO Aberdare Grasshoppers took a break from training to thank their sponsor this week.

The ENTO Aberdare Grasshoppers, part of one of the largest amateur football clubs in the region, met with leading South Wales law firm Leo Abse & Cohen to present the company’s managing partner with a framed replica football shirt.

The youngsters handed over the gift to celebrate the sponsorship deal signed in August last year which saw Leo Abse & Cohen providing the Cynon Valley-based under-11 side with new branded kit for the current season.

The blue and yellow strip was chosen to replicate that of local senior team and Welsh League club, ENTO Aberaman Athletic AFC, with whom the Grasshoppers have recently affiliated. The affiliation has ensured that the Grasshoppers now have an opportunity to progress to an under 19 league or senior football team when they leave the junior age groups.

Coach Steve Phillips said: “We’re really pleased with the new kit and the team feels excited to be wearing it, particularly as it echoes the seniors’ strip. The sponsorship from Leo Abse & Cohen has allowed the Grasshoppers to follow in the older players’ footsteps.”

The ENTO Aberdare Grasshoppers have won all but one of the 25 games they have played to date this season.

Leo Abse & Cohen managing partner Ian Hopkins added: “I’ve watched a few of the ENTO Aberdare Grasshoppers’ games this season and I have been more than impressed with the promise and skill the players have shown. We are very proud to be associated with such an enthusiastic young team.”

Leo Abse & Cohen employs 140 members of staff, including 13 partners, at its offices in Cardiff , Newport and Swansea and offers legal advice to a broad range of private clients, companies and institutions.
